LYRID NIGHT IN THE SKY OF MONTSEC ✨

The firmament of Àger will become a privileged setting on the night of 22-23 April, when the Lyrid meteor shower will reach its maximum splendour. With the Montsec sky as a backdrop, one of the oldest and most emblematic meteor showers promises to offer an unforgettable natural spectacle.

The Lyrids, active from April 16 to 25, will peak in the early hours of April 22, with up to 20 meteors per hour streaking across the night sky. The best viewing time will be between midnight and dawn, as the constellation Lyra (near the bright star Vega) climbs high in the spring sky.

The Sky of Montsec is not just a place—it’s an experience. Recognised as a Starlight Tourist Destination, it offers exceptional conditions for stargazing: dark skies, minimal light pollution, and a peaceful, natural setting. It’s the perfect place to leave the city lights behind and reconnect with the vastness of the universe.

Even better, this year’s waning moon won’t interfere much with visibility, giving stargazers a clearer view of the meteor trail. The Lyrids are fragments of Comet Thatcher, burning up in our atmosphere after thousands of years in space.

You don’t have to go far to touch the stars. See you there!
