ÀGER PARTICIPATES IN THE 9TH EDITION OF “LA FIRA DELS SOMNIS” OF BALAGUER

The town of Àger do its bit and collaborates with the 9th edition of “La Fira dels Somnis” of Balaguer!

The “Fira dels Somnis” of Balaguer is a charity event held annually to raise funds for the research and treatment of childhood and juvenile cancer, specifically the funds are for the childhood cancer research group led by the Vall d’Hebron Institut de Recerca (VHIR), with the purpose of funding projects that seek new therapies and treatments to struggle this disease.

Some of the activities you will find are: 

• Solidarity proposals and events: Various events are held to raise funds prior to the fair, such as the sale of solidarity T-shirts that can be purchased at several points in the municipalities collaborating with the cause, such as Agramunt, Bellcaire d’Urgell, Bellmunt, Bellvís, Linyola o Vallfogona de Balaguer, among others. And the decoration of the railings of the Pont Nou of the Segre river with banners from collaborating companies and organisations.

• Shows and exhibitions: During the day of the fair, you will be able to enjoy motor exhibitions (exhibition of old tractors, classic vehicles, bikers’ meeting), a meeting of “colles” of giants and “capgrossos”, batucades, dance, live music, magic, theatre and other surprises that provide a festive and family atmosphere. As a little preview, you will be able to find the “Bosc dels Somnis”, an exhibition of workshops and plastic works made by the students of the educational centres of the territory in collaboration with the elderly people who live in old people’s homes.

• Run and walk of els Somnis: This is the main event of the fair, open to all audiences and ages, with urban routes of 3 and 5 km through the streets of Balaguer. Registration (at the Lapallavacara centre and the Balaguer indoor swimming pool) costs €10 and includes a solidarity T-shirt and a bib number to compete and later to take part in a prize draw.
