Àger is preparing to celebrate International Museum Day 2025 in style, an initiative promoted by the Generalitat de Catalunya to bring cultural heritage closer to all audiences. On the upcoming May 18, visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich history and charm of this emblematic municipality of Montsec through two irresistible proposals.
The day will begin at 11:00 AM with a guided tour of the picturesque old town of Àger and the historic Church of Sant Vicenç. This tour will allow participants to discover the most emblematic corners of the town, its cobbled streets, and medieval architecture, culminating with a visit of the church, a testament to local faith and art.
From 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, the architectural jewel of Àger, the imposing Collegiate Church of Sant Pere d’Àger, will open its doors free of charge too, for all those who wish to admire its grandeur. Visitors will be able to freely explore this Lombard Romanesque monument, contemplate its sculptural details, and feel the atmosphere of centuries of history emanating from its walls.
This double proposal is an excellent opportunity for locals and visitors to connect with the valuable cultural heritage of Àger, within the framework of an international celebration that underscores the importance of museums and historical sites as guardians of our collective memory.
Don’t miss this special day in Àger! Come and discover the living history of Montsec.
